It is with much sadness and heartbreak that we learned in December 2020 of the passing of our much treasured and respected choirmaster, Vincent Whelan.

It’s hard to know what to write about Vincent since he was essentially what we as a choir were all about. He worked tirelessly, searching out music for us, and he knew what would work and what would just be okay. 

 

His love of music and choral conducting shone brightly, especially during concert performances, and his showmanship came to the fore then, when he engaged as only he could with the audience.

Vincent was our maestro, our friend and our captain, steering us through unchartered waters and bringing us to safe harbour and we will forever remember and miss him.
